Welcome to our July newsletter

buy local at the Lord Mayors Procession

Thank you to all those who took part and contributed to the buy local float in the Lord Mayors Street Procession. It provided a fantastic opportunity to promote buy local and members to the public. In total £6,374.90 was collected by all taking part on the day, towards the Lord Mayors chosen charity, Norwich Riverside Lifeboat.

Members taking part have already reported increased business enquiries from the public.

Please make a note in your diary for next years street procession on Saturday 11th July 2009! All members are welcome to take part.

Referring new members to buy local can qualify your business for an award in recognition of your achievement.

Please ask locally owned businesses that you refer, to complete the section letting us know where they have heard about buy local, on the application form or online sign up.

Membership application forms are available by contacting the Coordinator.



Doing Business in Norwich report

Do large businesses in Norwich buy from small local suppliers?


Whether large businesses buy from smaller local businesses is important to the economy, recent research commisioned by Norwich City Council, and undertaken by The Guild identifies ways in which large and small businesses can better understand their purchasing options. Ongoing developments are being made to improve the website.

Further to member feedback a facility to randomize the search results for members under a business category will be implemented in the next few weeks.

This will mean that members will no longer be displayed in alphabetical format, under a specific business category and this will give everyone an opportunity to represented fairly.

The members forum is seeing new activity, please use this tool to communicate with other buy local members.
